A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SESSIONS CLOCK COMPANY
In 1902 William E. Sessions was running the Sessions Foundry Company in Bristol Connecticut. His nephew A.L Sessions purchased the controlling interest of the failing clockmaker E.N. Welch company that was ready to close its doors. By early 1903 E.N. Welch had become the Sessions Clock company and the production of all the clock parts including movements, dials, cases continued in Forestville. The peak period of the Sessions Clock Company was from 1903 to 1930. During the first years Sessions continued to produce Welch clocks, the black mantel clock and the oak cased kitchen clock. The process of phasing out the Welch brand was gradual and by 1920 the old name was practically gone.
