New Haven Grandfather Movement
Used in New Haven Grandfather clocks circa 1910-1920
We added a set screw (see picture with red circle) to hold the strike hammer. This was a weak link in the design of the movement
because the hammer would always slip over time causing a thug sound when the hammer hits the gong. In other words the strike hammer in now fixed in place so it will not move.
Because of this you may have to move the gong some so the hammer hits the gong for the correct sound.
The user will always have to set the movement in beat when the movement is in the Grandfather case.
Comes as pictured with pendulum leader and 2 ladder chains at 61" each.
See red circles indicating new bronze bushings on the front and back plate.
All pivots where polished using our Rollimat pivot polisher which resurface the pivot back to a new condition, just as when it was manufactured from the factory.
Tested and works perfectly.
